Godot 4.7 · .NET 8 · Vulkan

The grid,
re-engineered.

Puris Viewer is an open-source, next-generation client for Second Life and OpenSim. We replaced the legacy OpenGL pipeline with a modern Godot 4 architecture to deliver PBR materials, dynamic shadows, and multithreaded performance.

01 // GRAPHICS

Godot 4 Forward+

Native Vulkan rendering. Say goodbye to flat lighting and hello to real physically based rendering (PBR), atmospheric scattering, and shadows that don't destroy your framerate.

02 // PERFORMANCE

Threaded Everything

JPEG2000 texture decompression and mesh decoding are aggressively pushed to background threads. The main render thread stays clean, so the viewer doesn't freeze when crossing region borders.

03 // PROTOCOL

LibreMetaverse

Underneath the shiny exterior runs a rock-solid, battle-tested network core. C# and .NET 8 handle LLSD, UDP messaging, and HTTP CAPS, fully compliant with TPV policies.

Built for Residents & Developers

Whether you are an explorer wanting to see the world in higher fidelity, or a developer looking to contribute to a modern C# codebase, Puris Viewer is built for you.

  • > Clean, decoupled architecture
  • > Engine-agnostic domain layer
  • > Safe, permission-respecting client

Development Log

CURRENT PHASE (M3/M4 Alpha)
PBR & UI Implementation

Basic login, world rendering, and inventory fetching are functional. Currently integrating dynamic shadows, avatar rendering, and the Godot UI system. Expect bugs and missing features.

M2 PHASE (Completed)
3D Scene & Terrain

Terrain meshes, simple UI overlays, and basic 3D scene construction wired up to the network state.

M0-M1 PHASE (Completed)
Core Architecture

Headless login, asset fetching, and threaded JPEG2000 texture decoding implemented.
